World Rabies Day | Social Media Campaign

Webinar

World Rabies Day | Social Media Campaign

November 12-14, 2020

Dow University of Health Sciences

November 12-14, 2020

Online

Event Details:

World Rabies Day falls on 28th September and is celebrated around the world. In a developing country like Pakistan, where stray dogs and subsequently dog bites are still common, cases of Rabies are frequently seen. With this campaign, we wanted to emphasize that Rabies is 100% fatal but also 100% preventable.

The first poster on “World Rabies Day” was posted on September 28, 2020, to celebrate the relevant day. However, due to the ongoing Malaria and Dengue Relief Campaign at that time, this campaign was put on hold until November 12, 2020. The online campaign was done over 3 days from 12th Nov – 14th Nov on social media platforms of VFAHT-DUHS (FB and Instagram) and highlighted the different aspects of rabies, its management, and its prevention.

The campaign especially drew attention to the 100% preventability of rabies and emphasized how a rabid dog should be dealt with, which is something often mismanaged and overlooked in our setting. We think it was successful in delivering the message we intended on conveying.

Our objective was to create awareness among the masses regarding the cause of the spread of typhoid. As it was the beginning of summer and people were eating and drinking cold things to beat the heat from stalls a surge in typhoid cases was seen. We tried to tackle it by creating awareness.

Our VCAN division started working on it. They gathered the data and then adjusted it in a 2 to 3 minutes video for people to watch. The video was launched on the Facebook page and it was a success. It got the attention of a lot of people and we can say that it was an amazingly effective project
