Event Details:

The event was part of the World Tuberculosis Day campaign, VFAHT AIMC conducted an awareness session at the Outpatient Department, Jinnah Hospital. The team was divided into subgroups and they went to the different departments of the hospital. They communicated to patients and visitors there. They inquired about the basic knowledge about tuberculosis.  The purpose was to make them aware of preventable diseases like tuberculosis. They explained the signs and symptoms and preventive measures through chart papers and drawing.

They informed them about the special care for TB patients. They also emphasized that a caretake should adopt preventative measures when a TB patient is around. It was a successful and interactive session. The team distributed the Urdu pamphlets to the visitors.

Event Details:

On 30th March 2019, a team of 15 members from VFAHT Local Council Shifa TMU conducted a Tuberculosis Awareness Activity at ‘Apna Shelter Home and Learning Centre’ from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The objective was to provide awareness to the audience in a simple language. Make them aware of the signs and symptoms of the disease and highlight the importance of prevention. Tuberculosis is a preventable disease.

The pre-evaluation forms were filled by 22 members at the shelter and their caretaker to assess the existing knowledge of the audience. Dr. Hira Imtiaz (guest speaker) explained the basics of TB (signs, symptoms, precautions) and she was followed by Mahroze Aitzaz and Bisma Shoaib (members of VCAN department) who gave an interactive presentation on the transmission and prevention of TB with the help of hand-made posters.

VFAHT-FMH local council organized an intra-colligate event in reference to World Tuberculosis Day. The event was divided into two sections: lectures and interactive activities for the audience. The volunteers from the Fatima Jinnah University participated as a team in Public Health Quiz and Live Poster Competition.  The honorable professors and faculty were also present at the event.

Event Details:

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the world’s most devastating infectious diseases. March 24th marks the day in 1882 when German microbiologist Robert Koch announced he had discovered Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacterium that causes this ancient menace.

In recognition of World TB Day, Volunteer Force Against Hepatitis Transmission (VFAHT) reassert their commitment to improving our understanding of TB, how to combat this evil, and put a check on its spread.

VFAHT- Fatima Jinnah Medical University in collaboration with the Department of Pulmonology SGH conducted an Isolation Precautions Workshop in which training was provided to medical doctors and nursing staff members with all basic tools of isolation precautions.

The workshop included Lectures, hands-on training sessions followed by an awareness walk for the “END Tuberculosis (TB) BY 2035” WHO Campaign. The walk was led by the honorable Vice-Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University.

Event Details:

In relation to World Tuberculosis day, TB-Division at VFAHT AIMC-LC conducted an awareness session. The session had three phases:

Phase 1: An workshop was conducted by Prof. Dr. Ashraf  (Professor of Pulmonology) at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore.

Phase 2: Volunteers then went to the pulmonology wards, and communicated with the patients and their attendants, and gave the necessary information to the patients.

Phase 3: A walk, comprising of the volunteers as well as the Pulmonology Department, and the MS, Jinnah Hospital, was later organized to show solidarity with the victims of the disease, and to promote awareness as well as and destigmatization of Tuberculosis.

Congratulations to the project lead Asma Mahmood, and the TB Division, for the success of the project.

Event Details:

The purpose of this activity was to screen the registered patients for Hepatitis B and C along with running an awareness campaign for this disease. The VFAHT STMU team reached the Sunbeams school in Shah Allah Ditta, Islamabad at 8 am on 26th January, Sunday. Firstly, all the participants were registered on the registration counter and were issued a Medical record number. Additionally, data were recorded for each patient, including the patient’s name, age, gender, educational status, and any comorbid conditions. Then the patients were screened for Hepatitis B and C.

A total of 147 patients were screened.

After the screening was completed the patients were taken to a separate room where they were asked to fill the pre-evaluation forms and

then an awareness campaign was conducted. The team explained the causes of Hepatitis transmission and highlighted ways of preventing it. The participants were communicated in the local language to make sure they understood everything. After that, they were asked to fill out the post awareness forms to analyze the impact of the awareness campaign.

Out of 147 patients, one patient screened positive for Hepatitis C. Further information was taken from that patient and was then referred to Shifa International Hospital for a

qualitative PCR test where follow-up treatment of the patient would be aided by the Shifa Falahi Foundation. In this activity, we recorded data of 147 patients and we aim to not only screen more people but use this data for research purposes. We closed the camp at 3:30 pm. The locals were very pleased and thanked the team for arranging the camp.

The VFAHT Introductory Session was arranged to introduce the freshman batch at Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University with VFAHT. Students were officially enrolled as Volunteers and were made aware of the mission and objectives of VFAHT. Participants were also briefed about the various projects done by STMU- Local Council in the past and were encouraged to play a positive role in the fight against Infectious Diseases, particularly Hepatitis.

This meeting was chaired by the President, Qazi Bilal; Vice President, Sheryar Khan, and the General Secretary, Mehmood Abbas. The secretaries also attended this meeting.

VFAHT Aga Khan University Council organized an Orientation Session to recruit new volunteers to the Local Council. The Executive body introduced themselves to newly admitted students. President AKU-LC presented the Mission and objectives of VFAHT while the Vice President and General Secretaries explained the Structure of the Local Council.

A fun based interactive quiz was also conducted to motivate students.

All Project Directors and project secretaries explained the working domain and the list of activities to the audience.

Overall, very enthusiastic response was seen by the participants.

Help Desk was created when there were lots of ambiguity among medical personnel and as well as in public. VFAHT decided to create a WhatsApp group of experts from the medical sectors to clear this uncertainty.  COVID-19 Help Desk Managers of VFAHT are providing 24/7 service: authentic guidelines and answering queries of the general public as well as Health Care Personnel.

Ration Drive:

The main objective of Ration Drive was to provide people with one of the necessities of life i.e. food. VFAHT shared hands with SYNCH to help the needy more effectively. Along with this noble cause, awareness regarding corona was also raised among the public.

Covid-19 Ration Drive:

COVID-19 ration drive took place in two phases. Phase-1 started on 22nd March 2020 and Phase-2 started delivering ration bags from 22nd April 2020. We successfully provided ration to 1174 families. Moreover, Rs-120,000/ were distributed among deserving families to help them compete in these devastating circumstances.
