Zero Malaria Starts with Me- Poster And Quiz Competition

Event Details:

The main objective of this project was to spread awareness among the masses about the prevention of Malaria. Online poster and Quiz competitions were arranged by the Zoonotic Infections team in collaboration with FJMU and UOL. A social media campaign was done on World Malaria day by sharing posters regarding signs, symptoms, and prevention of malaria on different platforms.

The project was a success. 520 entries were received for the quiz and 25 for the poster competition. Awareness was given among general masses and specifically students.

Event Details:

Dengue is a very prevalent disease in the peripheral areas of Rahim Yar Khan. The prevalence of Dengue fever is one of the biggest challenges in this city after the current monsoon season.

The VFAHT SZMC Local Council arranged a Dengue Awareness Camp under the hashtag, #fightthebite at the Outpatient Department (OPD) of Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan on September 29, 2020.

The inauguration of the camp was done by Professor Dr. Tariq Ahmed (Principal, Sheikh Zayed Medical College, Rahim Yar Khan (SZMC). The Faculty members from the SZMC were also present on this occasion. The Volunteers were divided into teams. These teams visited the OPD where they met people and gave awareness about the causes of Dengue and the preventive methods one should adopt.

The main target audience was the public and daily visitors to the hospital. The volunteers explained the disease and preventive measures in a layman language. They made use of posters on chart papers to make the information more comprehensive and understandable.

A team of volunteers was present at the camp all the time. Awareness brochures and mosquito repellent was also distributed among the patients visiting the hospital. The active participation of all members at the awareness camp was greatly appreciated.

Interior Sindh

Event Details:

Following the heavy monsoon rainfall this year, many towns in interior Sindh faced flooding and subsequent stagnation of water in and around houses. This led to a rising number of dengue and malaria cases. Therefore, VFAHT-DUHS, led by its president Asma Burney, launched a campaign to raise donations to provide mosquito nets and coils to the residents of interior Sindh.
