On August 25, 2023, VFAHT-UMDC carried out an event at SOS Children’s Village, Malir, Karachi. The objective of this awareness campaign was to educate and inform students especially those from grades 4-7 on the prevalence of typhoid and how simple measures such as hand washing, cleanliness and avoiding unhygienically prepared food from vendors and stalls can prevent them from being a target of this disease.
The team arrived at the venue well beforehand to set up for the skit and game stations. A ten minute skit was performed by our members which was engaging and thoroughly enjoyed by the students followed by an interactive session where the kids spoke about what they understood.
To reinforce healthy practices various different game stations were set up which the students went to in groups and participated in enthusiastically. The session was extremely productive as was emphasized by the Villages management and the children left having learned about healthy practices in a fun and enjoyable way.
