Isolation Precaution Training Workshop

Event Details:

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the world’s most devastating infectious diseases. March 24th marks the day in 1882 when German microbiologist Robert Koch announced he had discovered Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacterium that causes this ancient menace.

In recognition of World TB Day, Volunteer Force Against Hepatitis Transmission (VFAHT) reassert their commitment to improving our understanding of TB, how to combat this evil, and put a check on its spread.

VFAHT- Fatima Jinnah Medical University in collaboration with the Department of Pulmonology SGH conducted an Isolation Precautions Workshop in which training was provided to medical doctors and nursing staff members with all basic tools of isolation precautions.

The workshop included Lectures, hands-on training sessions followed by an awareness walk for the “END Tuberculosis (TB) BY 2035” WHO Campaign. The walk was led by the honorable Vice-Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University.

Event Details:

In relation to World Tuberculosis day, TB-Division at VFAHT AIMC-LC conducted an awareness session. The session had three phases:

Phase 1: An workshop was conducted by Prof. Dr. Ashraf  (Professor of Pulmonology) at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore.

Phase 2: Volunteers then went to the pulmonology wards, and communicated with the patients and their attendants, and gave the necessary information to the patients.

Phase 3: A walk, comprising of the volunteers as well as the Pulmonology Department, and the MS, Jinnah Hospital, was later organized to show solidarity with the victims of the disease, and to promote awareness as well as and destigmatization of Tuberculosis.

Congratulations to the project lead Asma Mahmood, and the TB Division, for the success of the project.
