Overview

On May 21, 2024, the volunteers from VFAHT-DUHS conducted an awareness session on TB at Kids Care Centre near Saddar, Karachi.

The objectives of this campaign were:

  • To educate the students about the disease and provide accurate information about its causes and symptoms.
  • Prevent the spread of TB by highlighting its means of spread.
  • Promote early detection and treatment.
  • Encourage individuals to get tested for tuberculosis if they exhibit symptoms or have been exposed to someone with TB as early diagnosis can lead to timely treatment and reduce the risk of spreading the disease.

Thirty students and three teachers attended a session on Tuberculosis. The presentation covered detailed information about the bacteria responsible for the disease, its modes of transmission, its symptoms, medical recommendations, and preventive measures. A questionnaire for the students followed, and the session ended with the distribution of souvenirs. Volunteers were confident that increased awareness, early detection, and information about treatment from this campaign would help reduce the spread of the disease.
