On 31st March 2022, the TB and COVID-19 Wing of VFAHT-AKU successfully organized a talk, titled “TB or not TB” with Dr. Bushra Jamil, head of the section of infectious diseases at AKU. With an audience of around 40 medical students, the talk proceeded smoothly. Audience engagement and Dr. Jamil’s candid views lead to an especially stimulating discussion on the incidence, diagnosis, and treatment of TB in Pakistan in contrast to other countries around the globe.
The talk aimed at imparting knowledge about TB essential to students aspiring towards the medical profession, with clinical scenarios inculcated in the discussion to make it more conceptual. The talk emphasized the burden of the disease faced by Pakistan with the emergence of resistant strains and drug therapies for tackling them.
